I recently rediscovered a book called “You Know You’re A Dancer When…”. Reading through it made me laugh because of how many of the statements I can actually relate to. I found myself saying “I do that, and that” and “that’s true” over and over again. Here’s a few of my favorites:
You know you’re a dancer when…
-“Potentially hazardous sports are off-limits until after Nutcracker season”
-“You are well coordinated in class but trip, fall, or twist your ankle at least once a day outside of dance” (ballerinas are surprisingly clumsy, I know this first hand)
-“You wonder why the average person goes to touch their toes and can’t get past their knees without groaning”
-“The hot topic of conversation is who’s getting cast in what part”
-“Cracking your back, hips, ankles, toes, and other joints becomes an everyday routine”
-“You get irritated when you watch cheerleaders because they never point their toes”
-“You’re too sick to go to school, but never too sick to go to dance”
